The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has reported a significant surge in violence, with 14 assassinations occurring in a single day across the cities of Baniyas, Jableh, and Hama. This alarming development highlights escalating unrest in Syria amid deteriorating security conditions.
According to a Sunday report by Lebanon’s Al Mayadeen TV, the Observatory called on the new military leadership to take urgent control of the situation. They emphasized the importance of limiting the supply of weapons and conducting thorough inspections under the directives of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) leadership.
The Observatory also warned of ongoing kidnappings and killings, cautioning that failure to address these issues could result in a catastrophic security breakdown.
The recent unrest comes in the wake of armed opposition groups ousting former President Bashar al-Assad and seizing control of the capital, Damascus, in early December. The deteriorating security landscape has left citizens vulnerable to violence and instability.
