28 Years Later: First Trailer Teases Cillian Murphy’s Zombie Return and Jodie Comer’s Fight for Survival

The long-awaited sequel to 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later delivers a chilling look at a post-apocalyptic world infected by the Rage Virus.

nexnews – Sony Pictures has unveiled the gripping first trailer for 28 Years Later, the third installment in Danny Boyle and Alex Garland’s iconic franchise. The teaser opens with eerie tones of Rudyard Kipling’s war poem Boots, setting the stage for a bleak, virus-ravaged England. Aaron Taylor-Johnson is seen navigating desolate fields armed with a bow, while Jodie Comer takes center stage as she faces an undead version of Cillian Murphy’s character, Jim, from the original film.

The tagline, “Time didn’t heal anything,” hints at the devastating consequences of the Rage Virus nearly three decades later. The story introduces a new cast of survivors, including Ralph Fiennes, Erin Kellyman, and Jack O’Connell, alongside franchise newcomers Comer and Taylor-Johnson.

Though Murphy’s role appears limited, as he is not listed on promotional posters, his involvement as an executive producer adds to the film’s anticipation. The sequel also marks the beginning of a planned 28 Years Later trilogy, produced by Columbia Pictures in association with BFI, DNA Films, and Decibel Films.

The movie premieres on June 20, 2025, reigniting the intense atmosphere that made its predecessors groundbreaking in the zombie-apocalypse genre. With Andrew MacDonald and Peter Rice returning as producers, alongside Garland and Boyle, fans can expect a masterful blend of horror and human drama.

Prepare for a haunting exploration of survival, humanity, and the relentless spread of the Rage Virus. Stay tuned for more updates on this highly anticipated release!
