West Ham United forward Michail Antonio is in stable condition after sustaining a lower limb fracture in a traffic accident outside London on Saturday, the club confirmed in a statement on Sunday. Antonio has undergone surgery and will remain under observation at a central London hospital in the coming days.
The 34-year-old Jamaican international was reported to be “conscious and communicating” following the incident. West Ham has asked for privacy for Antonio and his family during this challenging time.
“The thoughts and prayers of everyone at the Club are with Michail, his family, and friends at this time,” the statement read.
Antonio has been a pivotal player for West Ham since joining from Nottingham Forest in September 2015. In September, he became the first West Ham player to record 100 Premier League goal involvements, contributing 67 goals and 33 assists, a milestone achieved during a 1-1 draw against Brentford.
West Ham’s next match is against Wolverhampton Wanderers at London Stadium on Monday. Antonio’s recovery timeline remains uncertain, and updates on his condition will follow in due course.
