Barcelona’s promising winger Lamine Yamal has been ruled out for 3 to 4 weeks following an injury sustained during Sunday’s game against CD Leganés. The club confirmed on Monday that tests revealed a grade 1 injury to the anterior tibiofibular ligament in his right ankle.
The 17-year-old, who was substituted in the 75th minute for Gavi at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, sustained the injury after a heavy blow to his ankle. Despite the setback, Yamal has been in sensational form this season, contributing six goals and 11 assists. These figures make him Barcelona’s third-highest scorer and one of the top assist providers in Europe’s top five leagues.
The injury comes at a crucial time as Barcelona looks to maintain momentum in both domestic and European competitions. However, the young talent is expected to return fully fit in the new year, continuing his impressive breakthrough season.
