Man City Eyes Shock Loan Move for Man Utd’s Alejandro Garnacho

Manchester City has emerged as a surprise contender in the race to sign Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho. Reports indicate that the Citizens, along with several elite European clubs, are interested in a loan move for the young Argentine, with a €60m (£50m) permanent purchase option.

The 19-year-old talent has been at the center of speculation following his omission from Manchester United’s squad during their recent 2-1 victory over City in the Manchester Derby. Manager Ruben Amorim’s decision to leave Garnacho and Marcus Rashford out of the lineup has fueled rumors of potential exits in the January transfer window.

Journalist Ekrem Konur reports that clubs like Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Juventus, and Saudi Pro League’s Al Hilal are also monitoring Garnacho. His youth, potential, and dynamic performances have made him a sought-after prospect.

Despite the growing interest, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has clarified that “no concrete talks” have taken place yet. Garnacho’s agent, who also represents Amad Diallo, reportedly maintains a good relationship with Manchester United, leaving the player’s future open for now.

Former United assistant manager Rene Meulensteen suggests that Garnacho’s playstyle does not align with Amorim’s tactical system, which may influence the Red Devils’ willingness to negotiate his departure. Garnacho thrives as a traditional winger, favoring wide positions, while Amorim’s setup emphasizes different roles in attacking and defensive transitions.

Whether United opts to let Garnacho leave or retains the rising star will likely depend on offers received during the winter market and the club’s broader strategy.
