In a tragic escalation of violence, Pakistan’s military conducted an airstrike on border areas near Afghanistan, resulting in the deaths of at least 15 individuals, including women and children. According to security officials, the airstrike targeted suspected bases of “Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan” (TTP) near the Afghanistan border.
The attack, which took place last night, has drawn widespread condemnation from the Taliban government. Prominent media outlets, including Al Jazeera, reported that Pakistani fighter jets bombarded areas near Paktika province, causing multiple casualties and injuries.
Local sources confirmed that the strikes focused on the Bermal district, but an exact count of the injured and dead remains unavailable as of now.
The Taliban administration issued a strongly worded statement condemning the airstrike. “We will not leave Islamabad’s recent attack unanswered. Afghanistan’s territorial integrity and sovereignty will be defended at all costs,” the statement read.
The incident has heightened tensions between the two neighboring nations, with the Taliban threatening retaliation in response to the attack.
