Manchester City are pushing to secure the January signing of Eintracht Frankfurt star Omar Marmoush, with negotiations reportedly in advanced stages. The Premier League champions are prepared to offer the Egyptian international a long-term deal until 2029 or 2030, with the Bundesliga club valuing the player at €50-60 million (£50m).
Marmoush has been a standout performer this season, scoring 13 goals and providing eight assists in 15 Bundesliga appearances. Since joining Frankfurt from Wolfsburg on a free transfer in July 2023, he has contributed 35 goals and 18 assists in just 65 matches, making him one of the league’s most in-demand forwards.
According to transfer expert Florian Plettenburg, Marmoush is open to the move, viewing it as a unique opportunity. While discussions with the player’s representatives are well-advanced, negotiations between Manchester City and Eintracht Frankfurt are yet to begin.
Fabrizio Romano has also confirmed City’s interest, stating:
“Manchester City have prepared their formal approach to open talks for Omar Marmoush as a January target. Discussions already ongoing on the player’s side. Omar, keen on City move. Now up to Man City and Eintracht with the German club facing a big decision.”
The signing of Marmoush would address Manchester City’s struggles in the current season, especially following the departure of Julian Alvarez to Atletico Madrid in the summer. With Erling Haaland as their primary striker, Marmoush offers versatility across the frontline, allowing Pep Guardiola to experiment with dual-striker formations or provide valuable cover for Haaland.
City’s lack of depth in attack has been compounded by the loss of midfielder Rodri, who is sidelined for most of the season with an ACL injury. Despite their uncharacteristic form, signing Marmoush could rejuvenate their squad and enhance their attacking options for the second half of the season.
Arsenal and Liverpool have also expressed interest in Marmoush, but City appear to be leading the race, with a concrete offer and an immediate transfer on the table.
