Agent Denies Frenkie de Jong’s Links to Saudi Clubs

Frenkie de Jong’s agent, Ali Dursun, denies rumors of talks with Saudi clubs, reaffirming the player's commitment to Barcelona amid contract speculations.

Recent rumors about Frenkie de Jong exploring opportunities in Saudi Arabian football have been firmly denied by his agent, Ali Dursun. As speculation swirls about the Dutch midfielder’s future at Barcelona, Dursun has clarified that de Jong remains committed to the club he considers his home.

Rumors Sparked by Spanish Media

A report from Spanish outlet AS claimed that Dursun had initiated talks with Saudi Arabian clubs to explore potential options for de Jong. However, the agent labeled these claims as “completely false” in a statement to the Dutch publication De Telegraaf.

Dursun emphasized:

“Negotiations with Saudi clubs? This is completely untrue. It distracts from Frenkie’s real ambition: to continue excelling at the club he loves and feels at home.”

Barcelona’s Contract Dilemma

De Jong’s current contract with Barcelona runs until 2026. While a poll by Mundo Deportivo suggests that fans might not favor extending his contract, the club reportedly made an offer to renew his deal late last year. However, de Jong did not respond, leading to the proposal expiring.

Barcelona’s management plans to evaluate de Jong’s performance in the second half of the season before deciding whether to present a new offer.

Commitment to Barcelona

Despite financial challenges and external interest, de Jong has consistently expressed his desire to remain at Barcelona. His focus is on contributing to the team’s success and maintaining his role as a key figure in Xavi’s midfield.

While transfer rumors are common in football, this latest clarification from de Jong’s agent underscores the player’s dedication to Barcelona, dismissing any notion of a move to Saudi Arabia as baseless.
