Denzel Dumfries, Inter Milan’s star, shared his excitement after scoring a double in the semi-final of the Coppa Italia against Atalanta. The Dutch player played a key role in Inter’s 2-0 win at Al Awal Park in Riyadh, registering two crucial goals.
Dumfries initially scored with an acrobatic finish from a corner kick delivery. Later, he struck another goal from the edge of the penalty area, sending the ball under the crossbar. Atalanta’s Ederson tried to bring his team back into the game, but a long VAR review ruled out Charles De Ketelaere’s goal due to an offside.
After the match, Dumfries was named the best player of the game by Serie A. Celebrating his first-ever career brace, he spoke to Sport Mediaset: “I’m very happy with tonight’s win. We had a good performance and controlled the game in the first half. I’m pleased to have helped the team reach the final with two goals. Tonight, we achieved a big victory. We are playing well, but we need to focus to improve in every match. We are on the right path, and we need to continue this way.”
In the absence of injured defenders Francesco Acerbi and Benjamin Pavard, Milan Skriniar took the lead in defense for Inter. He commented after the game: “We know how difficult it is to play against a team like Atalanta, which closes spaces and defends man-to-man. In such situations, individual talent is needed, and tonight, Denzel gave us exactly that.”
