Nexnews – The Swiss Parliament has voted to ban the activities of Hezbollah, marking a significant shift in the country’s traditional neutral stance on international conflicts. According to a Reuters report on Wednesday, the ban passed the Swiss lower house with 126 votes in favor, 20 against, and 41 abstentions, and was subsequently approved by the upper house of parliament.
This decision comes just a week after Switzerland enacted a similar ban on the activities of the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas. The security policy committee, which proposed the Hezbollah ban, argued that the move would not compromise Switzerland’s role as a mediator in conflicts, particularly those in Palestine and Lebanon.
The decision follows a period of intense conflict in southern Lebanon, where the Zionist regime launched large-scale attacks before a ceasefire was reached in late November. In retaliation, Hezbollah conducted numerous operations against Israeli positions and settlements in northern Palestine. The Israeli military has repeatedly violated the ceasefire agreement and has obstructed the return of Lebanese refugees to towns and villages in southern Lebanon.
